Seminario "The Digital side of Locel-H2"
"The digital side of Locel-H2" will be held on Thursday 5th December (starting from 15:00), as part of the meetings cycle of the Permanent Seminar of the Southern Center for Digital Transformation (Department of Social Science, University of Naples "Federico II). Four speakers from different partners and disciplines involved in the H2020 Project named Locel-H2 will discuss the role of digitalization in this experience aimed at providing renewable and sustainable energy to remote communities in two rural sites in Africa.
The design and implementation of modular and decentralised microgrids are intended to promote community development and autonomy.
The project partnership relies on a transdisciplinary and transcultural perspective to cope with such an ambitious goal, as well as to avoid both technological and behavioural determinism.
The seminar will be focused on the problematization of how digital infrastructure, devices and tools will be calibrated to foster the empowerment of communities avoiding the creation of new technological dependencies. The discussion of this pivotal issue will stimulate critical reflexivity within the project consortium about the opportunities and challenges emerging from the intertwinement between socio-technical innovation, environmental sustainability and local empowerment.
